• Excite- Good general search engine. Spider is not very prolific, so not a good place to look for new pages.
  
• Google- Largest index. Searches based on link popularity. Good for finding the best resource.
  
• LookSmart
  
• Lycos- The original Internet search engine. Searching well requires using search modifiers. Read the help if your search is important.
  
• myway- Search engine.
  
• Yahoo!- More an index than a search engine since it does not have a spider. Zero-return searches are passed on to an Inktomi-driven search engine. Has fallen behind over last 2 years. Not usually a good place to look for new sites.
